I finally finished putting together my book of the stone angels. This started out as a wallhanging then sanity made me think of where I could put another wallhanging - hence I decided to make it into a book. I am very pleased with it and it can be displayed on a coffee table quite nicely.
I used the crazy quilt method of piecing and embellishing the blocks but did a lot of Karen Ruane's type of embellishment that I have learned in her classes using lots of french knots, bullions and web stitches.
This was a fun project to do. I now have to finish a book I started of our 50th. anniversery card collection. I just have to do a cover and then put it together. After that I am going to do one of Karen Valentine's lace books from her class that I signed up for.
I am still working on my old linens squares that I have decided is going to be a wallhanging to hang on a large wall in my Florida sunroom. It will be roughly 60 x 60" and with the 9 foot something ceilings in there it will have lots of room.

what a great book Freda... I too am making most projects into books as I can take them with me when we leave the farm and so to pass on when I die... Not many people want wall hangings but would keep gma's books.
Love it, fills you with joy on such a beautiful idea!
Freda this is just so gorgeous. I am a great fan of books, especially when they are as beautiful as this.
Just over the top splendid!
Freda, it's a so beautiful book! I wish I would make mine in such style. Hideko
Oh wow Freda, your book is absolutely gorgeous! What a great idea; as you said, you can only have so many wall hangings. I've made a dozen, and when I think of it, I rotate them so they all have a go on the walls of our house at some time!
Your book reminds me of something I was shown recently - a member of our Guild does lots of mixed media experiments and instead of putting them away in a folder or a box somewhere, she has made a book out of calico, and sewn her 'experiments' on to the pages - fantastic! I plan to do it with my experiments one day. Just got to find the time...
Oh my Frieda, your book is absolutely beautiful, and unique. Had a look further down and my that wind certainly made some damage and loved all your other blocks.
Love n hugs bear xoxoxo
Such a wonderful book. Love your angels. Thanks for sharing your art.
Beautiful work, as always! I especially liked the little lace bird 'smelling' the row of flowers. I said 'smelling' but I rather suspect he might be pecking at them!!
I'm always inspired by angels!
What a beautiful book - your CQ and embroidery is exquisite Freda - you have a very special talent.
Your grandchildren must love spending time with you and sharing your creativity!
