POINTS ON

I am not the best photographer in the world but laid this on our king size bed and stood on a step stool to try and get this all in.  The points went on very well with a wee bit of fudging when I was near the corner.  I just undid a couple and moved then up or done as was needed.  Worked well.

Here is a pic of one of the corners.  All it needs now is a backing and then some type of quilting or maybe tying will be the way to go.  Stay in with the old look maybe?

Any suggestions on backing it would be appreciated.  I thought if it is going to be a throw maybe a nice soft backing like a flannel would work.  Has anyone used flannel for a backing?

I think I will pack it away for now and add the backing and finishing in Florida.  We are hopefully leaving October 19th. for the winter.  I am going to try and keep my packing light this year so have to decide what I will want to work on and what to take.  As my husband says there are always stores to buy what you need.  Nice guy.  Also I have a winter of the flea markets coming up so they are like stores for me.

I have decided to keep this after all my work on it.  After looking at it on the large bed I thought that it would look good on a young girls bed.  Maybe someday.  When finished I will take a picture in Florida wherever I decide to throw it.

I really don't think I would put flannel on the back (altho' it would be nice) and would be tempted to use a nice white cotton and then applique a few doilies onto it for interest when someone turns it over. Just my opinion of course!!

I agree. I am not fond of flannel. It pills & I think it looks a bit cheap. You might use a plain flannel as a batting (I do that all the time) & then a nice cotton on the back. You could use a reproduction print in keeping with the linen theme.

It is looking so wonderful Freda - what a fabulous idea this is, and the prairie points really set it off.
I use flannel on my lap and bed quilts all the time - I like it best for that cozy factor! I always pre-wash it as there seem to be many varying degrees of quality in the flannels but other-wise, I've never had trouble. It is worth paying the extra money for a good one.

This is so beautiful. Oh yes, to the cozy backing of really good quality flannel. Your attention to all the vintage details and prairie points is stunning. Blissful Stitching Dear...

It looks beautiful. I hadn't realised that it was so big. I haven't used flannel but I think I would go with the idea of plain white cotton.

The prairie pts. look so nice and old fashioned, perfect workmanship. I take nine totes of cq. stuff back and forth to Az. I like you have so many antique shops waiting for me, so many choices for linens and lace. We look like the Beverly Hills Hillbillies when we roll into town.
Beautiful work, Frieda. Jan O.

It's as fabulous as I knew it would be!! I would love to see more! I would be great if you were able to make the Fancy Flea! There is supposed to be over 350 vendors!

Oh Freda this is looking fantastic as a quilt or a throw depends if you want it for real warmth or not. Flannel is a good choice or cotton with a wool/poly mix for the batting or another option could be using polar fleece straight on the back which is what I have done and I have found nothing warmer so soft and light but, of course, it is not a natural fibre!
Have a lovely time away Freda and stay tuned as I'm sure there will be more Spring garden photos with all the roses coming on.
Take care!
Hugs from here,
Suzy
