SQUARE 5

Well it has cooled down for a couple of days and been in the low 80s. It has been a bit of a breather but here we go again. They are calling for 90 and up to 95 next week with storms predicted. Sue is in Mexico and I said if there was no rain I would go over and water her plants and my rhubarb patch. Have to look after that but with the heavy rain Wed. night again I am not sure I need to. Especially if we get rain as they are predicting. Will see what tomorrow brings. No rain and I will go over in the afternoon.

Here is square 5 for you to see. I went to a garage sale Fri. on the way to the library and picked up a couple of neat things. will take pics and show tomorrow. May give you a break and not show a square - haha.

SQUARE 4

Here we go again with square 4. The people who responded said they liked having the closeups plus the whole square so I will still do that.

My week is up and life is coming back in. Actually I didn't do much yesterday in the way of sewing and nothing today. I had to clean up the mess I had strewn through the DR, Kit., Laun., and FR. I have cleaning help every second week and they come on a Friday afternoon. Hence the cleanup.

SQUARE 3

Two posts in one day. I will be reaching that 300 before I know it. I am posting the 3rd. one just finished. I have been taking extra shots of each block. Isthis too much? Would you rather just see the finished block alone. Let me know and the majority rules. Not that it will be that big of a majority but I do have 50 followers now.

The one good thing about posting is when you look at the pics you see the flaws. I meant to fix the butterflies tale and forgot. I will correct that now.

It also looks like I downloaded thesame pic twice which means I hit the wrong #. Well you have the main pic anyway.

SQUARE 2

I am numbering these just so I don't show them again. I finally have 11 finished and just one half done left to go. That is till I look at each one of them then I can see if I like it or not and then either add more or leave them alone. That is the hardest part. I should just sew them together without even looking at them again because you are never finished in your own mind.

This square has the 2 love birds on it and I tried to make a nest that looked okay. I liked the color of this chenille yarn and this is the 3rd. or 4th. try and it was late last night and I said that is it. Good or bad I took pics and went to bed. See what you think. I hope the pearls for eggs show up. I tried to cut and fluff up the yarn but only succeeded in covering up the eggs even though I re-sewed them on after I fluffed-fubbed. Who knows. This is what I ended with.

The large MOP with pink stones was an earring. I took the back off, sewed a flat button and glued it down to the button. That way if you need to remove it you just have to cut the button threads on the back and you free it. Good tip I use often. Can you imagine wearing this hunker on your ears. Not too heavy but very large.

I see 3 pics wen sideways and they ae not opening up to full screen as usual. This is a guessing game to me.

SQUARE ONE

I am going to post a square that I finished off this afternoon. This week for once I did not have one thing on the calender. My water aerobics session finished last Sat. They take one week off with the pools closed to clean them, etc. then our next session starts next week and continues until the weekend I leave for Fl. Oct. 16th. Perfect timing. No dr. or dentist appts. either. Next week I make up for it with a dentist visit and 2 different Dr. appts. It never seems to end. Also my daughter and her family left yesterday for 1 week at a resort in Puerto Vallarta,Mexico so no shopping trips either.
I may have to run over and water my rhubarb and her flowers. I have been bribing my 2 youngest grandsons to water and I pay them .50 cents a bucket to haul the water down to the patch where we put it. It is a long haul because she lives on a 2 acre or more site.
I paid $1.00 to the youngest and 5.50 to the middle child last week. Actally gave him a $10.00 because I had no change so he owes me 9 more bucketfuls. Child labor.

Well with this free week I am not leaving the house unless I have to and I am trying to put the finishing touches on my "Butterfly wallhanging" squares. They are 90% finished and I just needed a week like this to put finish to them. This will be the 12 outside squares and I have finished the 4 triangle squares for the middle. I then have to finish what I am planning for there then put it all together. After I had snapped the pics and looked at them I noticed that I had not done too much actual cq stitching on this square.
Also I have tried to put some white on each square because my good friend Allie (from Allie in Stitches) when I told her I was using black, purple and greys as my main colors told me to make sure I put enough light color in there to brighten it up. Hope I have Allie.

On this first block I have used an old vase pin and filled it with an old beaded flower with a pearl. I have used a lot of delicas on this and they just sparkle but unfortunately you do not see them in the pics. I love delicas. Some trims and a large black lace piece were also used. Hope you like it.

GIVEAWAY & AFRICAN VIOLETS

Just a quick note tonight to tell you that there is a nice giveaway in our blogland.

It is from Connie @ shedreamsbig.blogspot.com. It is a lovely purse that she has made and a second prize of a vase made from antique silverware. Both great prizes.

Also I was watering my violet plants that I brought back from florida with me and they are green and healthy but nary a bloom. I have been watering them with fertilizer in the water but I guess the island countertop just does not get enough good light for blooming. If I can keep them alive until I get back to Florida I can put them back in the sunroom on either the window ledges or in the large black terrarium. I didn't realize how nice it is to have some window ledges until I came home and there are none in this house. They are all straight down. I think they stopped putting them in houses they built the last 25 years or so.

I have been working on my quilt blocks and am almost finished the 12 outside ones. The triangles are finished so now I just have to work on the middle. I will post a couple of them over the next few days and show you what I am thinking of doing for the middle.
Nothing like having a large wallhanging to finish, a Christmas tree skirt to finish, the beaded bag and my flower project. The 2 class projects may get wrapped up and taken to Florida to finish. Sounds more like a good winter project. This from the gal who said no pressure this summer - ha.

CUFF

Sorry I have not blogged all week but have been under the weather. I think this terrible heat is making my fibromyalgia really act up. Yesterday it hit me in the butt and hurt when I walked and so I just sat and stitched all day. Today is better but still took it easy. We missed Kane County flea market yeasterday. Harv was going to drop me off there and head over to the Fox River, find a big tree and drop the fishing line in. He always takes a magazine along also. works well. With cell phones it is so easy to keep in touch.

I am posting 2 pics of a cuff that I embellished. Last year when Pat Winter had her 50th. birthday Terri Tekacs from Lavender Between The Sheets contacted a few of her friends and we each put together a breakfast or tea for her on that day. Imaginery of course as we are all over the country. Terri sent us each a few things she made and one was a coffee cup mug cuff with my initial F on it. Well I have no coffee cups or mugs that it would fit and I thought Terri had put so much work into it that I would turn it into an arm cuff. It turned out good. I haven't seen anyone wearing them around here but they are all over the web.
